What it is

A chatbot contact inside Snapchat that teens can message like a friend, powered by Snap’s AI features.

Age guidance

Snapchat’s platform minimum age is typically 13 (accounts under 13 should be closed). My AI is available inside Snapchat for eligible accounts. It is not a standalone kids AI product.

Parent controls

Snapchat Family Centre can let a parent limit or disable a teen’s access to My AI. Family Centre may show whether a teen has chatted with My AI, but not the content of those chats. Users can clear My AI data from Snapchat privacy controls.

Privacy / data (UK/EU framing)

My AI conversations sit inside Snap’s wider social product and privacy model. Retained until cleared/deleted per Snap’s product privacy pages. For UK families, the Children’s Code lens applies to the whole Snapchat experience (social graph, messaging, Discover content), not only the AI feature.

Why this verdict

Caution for teens already allowed on Snapchat; Avoid as a “kids AI” recommendation.

My AI inherits Snapchat’s age floor and social context. Parents can often disable it via Family Centre, which is good, but they still cannot read My AI chat content. The bigger decision is usually whether Snapchat itself is appropriate — not only the AI add-on.

Stay aware

• Disable My AI if you are uncomfortable, even if Snapchat stays installed.
